The POWER is in the Word of God

If are leading an evangelistic evening and someone you do not know asks if they can give their testimony, how would you answer?  I answered with a few questions and then took a risk and said yes.

His testimony was similar to what we have heard before, and as always, it was awesome to hear!  His testimony in a nutshell:
I found LIFE in the Word of God!

John 1                   1   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God  …  In him [In the Word of God] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.   [parenthesis  added by me to highlight “the Word’ ]

This man, from an Arabic speaking country was studying the Koran for many years in his country.  Though his family were devout Muslims, he noticed many problems with the Koran.  When he went to extra effort to tell others about the problems he found with the Koran, his family came up against him and threatened to take LIFE from him.

The man did not let this stop him.  He went searching for the truth.  Somehow he came across Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses.   This man did not see the truth in what they said.  He read a bible and in the bible he found LIFE and he knew that this LIFE was the truth and the light of all mankind.  He now continually seeks to give his testimony anywhere he can, proclaiming  LIFE in Jesus Christ.

This past Wednesday when this man gave his testimony, he was especially great, because half the crowd of 80+ people spoke his language.  Through translation, the other half also heard his testimony.  Almost all 80+ people who were there are from similar situations where Islam is in their background and they would likely be under similar threat if their family heard them proclaim Jesus as the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

The Word of God is powerful.  When we can, we  give the Word--the power is IN the  Word.   When we can we PROCLAIM the Word--the power is IN the Word.  When no Christian is around, the power is IN the Word.  It is a huge encouragement to hear and hear again such a testimony of the power of God's Word!
