There is much going on in Iran that is disturbing. But there are also many Christians living out their faith, much like the stories we read in the book of Acts—through boldness in the Spirit and through persecution. God’s Holy Spirit continues to act! For Christians in Iran it can be dangerous to even attend a public worship, because someone may be watching. The cost of following Christ for a Muslim has no borders: persecution can come to those even here in Austria, as well as their families back home, all because they choose to follow Jesus. Persecution for their faith is a reality, not just a possibility. As part of this worship time at the Oasis, we spent time praying for our Iranian friends. We prayed for their boldness while living in difficult times there. We prayed that those who follow Jesus will be able to share the truth of Jesus with many. We praised God for the news that many are proclaiming the good news of salvation in Jesus. We prayed that the country leaders will see the difference that Jesus makes in the lives of people.
Our worship times as an Oasis Team are very important times as we grow together as a team and as we grow in our faith in God. Jesus is our Lord and we are glad to be able to worship him freely. Our recent worship learning about Iranian Christians reminded us of our freedom.
As you hear Iran mentioned in the news, would you join us and pray for protection and boldness in the name of Jesus for the Christians there? We all can join together and praise the Lord as well, for those faithful followers of Jesus in Iran!
