What I love about the team I serve...

…is their passion to share the love of Messiah with refugees in word & deed.

They are willing to serve refugees in the seemingly small things;

Sharing cups of coffee or tea, initiating conversations, Foot washing, holding refugee kids on their laps, teaching German, having special times for women, helping refugees move (that can turn into an all day event), phone contact, the list goes on and on.

They really live out our core values of presence, compassion, and journeying in so many creative, different ways…

Presence

We welcome refugees into the Oasis, our homes and our lives. We offer them a safe place where they can come and know they are welcome. We move towards refugees even when language is a barrier. We share meals, stories and celebrations. We visit them. We pray together. We want to know their names.

Compassion

We walk alongside refugees in the midst of their suffering. We value them as people God dearly loves. We are moved to pray for and seek after God's provision for hope, food, shelter, clothing and other basic needs that the refugees have.

Journeying

We seek to walk one step further with refugees as they journey toward/with Messiah. For those who know or come to know Jesus, our desire is to lead them into a deeper relationship with Him and a Christ-centered life that brings others in contact with the Gospel.

I totally agree! Thanks for your thoughts, Tom. I love these things about the team we serve, too. (o :
