The Family of God: Holy Networking

Because the refugees we meet at the Oasis seldom stay in Traiskirchen more than a couple months, it is our desire to connect refugees with others outside the Oasis.  This is not easy because we meet many refugees, we do not always know when they are being transferred, and we do not always know someone near where they are being transferred.  Thus, we do as much as we can and continue to pray for God’s help where we cannot help.

Earlier this year I met 2 young guys at the Oasis and got to spend a good amount of time getting to know them.  Then of course, they were transferred.  OMD was still close enough to come visit and we could connect almost every week.  SHEM, was transferred about a 90 minute drive away.  Not far, but too far to visit regularly.  OMD was able to still come to our Austrian church with us.

While I did not know anyone personally where SHEM was living, he found a church about a 30 minute train ride away.  Not only did he find a church, God blessed him with an Austrian family from that church who are teaching him from the bible and are teaching him German.  Praise the Lord!  The Oasis did not know this church and the Oasis did not know this family.  SHEM did not know this family.  God knew what SHEM needed and connected SHEM with this church and this family.

Since the Oasis is largely a seed planting ministry, we are constantly being reminded to trust in the Lord.  Any farmer who plants seeds can plant well, water well, but God gives grow to the farmer’s seeds, NOT the farmer.  We at the Oasis desire to trust the Lord in all that we do.

I Corinthians 3:7                7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
