boarding pass noun

a pass for boarding and “moving a person”
from point A to B.
Last Wednesday, I was part of a team
that touched more than 10 nations in just over 2 hours! The gospel of
Jesus was preached by an American.
It was translated by an Austrian into German for an
Egyptian to translate into Arabic and it was translated by
an Iranian into Farsi. Besides the
speaker and 3 translators, the team included about 9 other servants who talked with
refugees, served refugees, set up the room, cleaned at the
end of the night, marked passages in bibles, prepared coffee
and tea and cake, and one gave household items for refugees who now live
in their own apartment. For some of
these workers, they paid their own train ticket from Vienna to come serve
(about $15 round trip). The 12+ or so workers sacrificed time,
thus paying for the “boarding pass”
for 90+ refugees, so
they could be “moved” spiritually from point A
to B-- from not
knowing Jesus to knowing
Jesus…
This was not
just “a” special event. We do this EVERY
WEDNESDAY, plus a
slight change in form for EVERY THURSDAY,
plus giving
Clothing EVERY MONDAY, plus teaching German EVERY FRIDAY plus once a
month a Women’s Evening
FRIDAY night. At each of these
ministry events at the Oasis, we have 1-4 full time workers and 7-12 volunteers. Those serving at the Oasis are providing “boarding
passes” for the 280 to 350 refugees who weekly visit the Oasis, so
these refugees can be spiritually moved from point A to B: from perhaps knowing who Jesus is to knowing,
trusting, and growing deeper in a relationship with Jesus; or maybe from seeing Jesus as JUST a prophet to proclaiming Him
as their Lord and God.
We praise the Lord often for the
opportunity to share His word with so many nations in one small location in
Austria. I am thankful that I do not have to travel to 10 nations in 2
hours! J I am
thankful for the many workers God has already sent to
the Oasis. I am thankful for the many who pray for the Oasis ministry. And I am thankful for the many servants who
financially give in “small and big” ways so we can serve here. Through acts of service, we get to
connect with many nations, while providing “boarding passes” for refugees to
be moved spiritually: from having little
or no hope of a future, to trusting that God will provide what is needed.
