She comes to the Oasis using crutches. She hobbles along on feet swathed with layers of socks and other pieces of cloth that cover her swollen feet. She is a Chechen grandma who has been coming to the Oasis these past months looking for a pair of shoes that are big enough to cover her feet comfortably. She is keenly aware that winter is coming on and that her plastic sandals wont protect her against the cold and wet. Her search has been to no avail...until today.
The grandma came with four other ladies to our Women's Clothing Room. Two of our Austria Volunteers had long noticed her plight and started looking for a solution. Today, as the Grandma sat waiting her turn, they brought her a shoebox and opened it before her. She was astonished by their thoughtfulness and was delighted beyond words that the orthopedic shoes fit her feet like a glove.
The other refugee women in the room knew of the grandmas plight and watched the scene unfold before them. Tears came to their eyes when they saw her smiling at her feet in those beautiful warm shoes.
We're thankful to be here and to make Messiah's love known to these precious people and to help even a grandma know that she is loved dearly by God.
