Getting Refugees wrong

On Monday we had clothing room for Men and I got into conversations with some Somali men.
Producing an Atlas one of the men showed me the route he had taken to Austria.
To get from Somali to Austria he had travelled through Yemen and Syria, two less than safe or stable countries for an Asylum seeker to travel through.
On top of traveling through countries with troubled Government situations, these Somali refugees also had to risk their lives crossing from Africa to the middle East on a flimsy boat and then travel through countries who tell them that they are not wanted and push them off onto the next country.


Fatoumata is a musician from Mali. She has written a song about the large number of Asylum seekers who  drown at sea, trying to cross from Africa into Arabia or to Europe. Fatoumata asks in the song. Whose fault it is that so many people lose their lives trying to reach Europe?

The fault lies ...

Our young people get up and decide to emigrate
To go on an adventure in search of money
They left their mothers at home
They left their fathers at home
Some call them Illegals
But we call them Men of Adventure
I ask our leaders, isn’t there someone to help them stay at home?
