The Afghan in the Tub

One of the Afghans recently came up to us and asked if it was possible for him to be baptised
Normally in such circumstances we normally put them in touch with an ethnic church and let them do all the necessary steps i.e a pre-baptism course.
But under the present laws in Austria it is not possible for Refugees in Traiskirchen to travel into the city to attend these courses, and the transient life of a Refugee means that if one was to start a course there in no guarantee that he would stay in Traiskirchen long enough to finish the course.

Acts 8:36 says ' Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be Baptised?'

It was decided that we would baptise him the following Friday in a river near the Oasis.
However it rained the whole next week and the river was running a little high, we were worried that this guy who could not swim very well, would go under and never comeback up again.
It was decided that we will baptise him in the bathtub upstairs of the Oasis.
And that is how I came to witness my first Bathtub Baptism
