The Oasis

   Last week there were 23 guys from Iran and Afghanistan in one of our rooms asking questions about Jesus.  One wanted to know, “Did Jesus come to teach people to worship God or to worship him?”  The answer required we explain our need for a sacrifice for our sin and how there was no one on earth able to be a sufficient sacrifice.  Therefore, God made Himself the sacrifice.  He did this because He does not wish anyone to stay separated from Him.  He came to earth and took on our human form and died for us.  Jesus was that sacrifice.  This is how much He loves us.

     As this was translated into Farsi there were thoughtful expressions on many faces.  After we closed with a prayer one man came to the front of the room.  There was a cross on the wall.  He stood in front of it, his hands folded as in prayer.  Tears were running down both cheeks.  Then he turned and thanked me and hugged me before he left.

     It is so humbling to watch God work when someone hears the simple gospel truths.
